About a Girl June 1st challenge

This challenge at About A Girl is to use a doily or doilies in your background.
I decided to use this beautiful Patterned paper from K&Company and photos of my Grand Daughter at her Auntie's wedding. She had such a beautiful dress on, but it did not stop her from playing in the dirt,( luckily it was lovely white sand) while all the family photos were being taken!

The second photo I cut out as there were peoples legs in the way. I placed it on another doily and I like the way she seems to melt into the background. She was having so much fun with the confetti!

I have used a hole punch to make my confetti.

I love these little bows from the The Trinket Track

I cut these little flowers from a larger doily. I often look at Op Shops for these!

The other Design Team Reveals are fantastic and will give you lots of ideas on how to use a doily on your layout. This challenge will end at the end of the month, so pop on over and get enthused about doilies and girls !!

Scrap your story mixed alpha challenge

I am entering this in just the nick of time!!
This weeks challenge at Scrap your story is to use mixed alphas

Of course I have used thickers and I use the Basic Grey alphas all the time.
I have cut a doily up in sections to cover around the two photos

I am loving this washi tape, as you can cut the birds off and use anywhere.

These two have such a special relationship and still do! Jack is now 8 and Gemma is 6 and the way they play together is incredible!

Kraft it up May Challenge

May is the month of Vintage at Kraft it up

I love vintage...but never do it! I have used another photo of my Grand Daughter dressed in vintage clothes for her School's Centenary celebrations. Her dress is actually a beautiful blue but my daughter used a 'colourised' Photoshop Action on it available from The Pioneer Woman's website.
Beware..... I have got carried away with the flowers!!

I have glued a old brown dress pattern to Kraft paper and then inked it heavily I found this beautiful doily which I have gathered up for behind the photo.
The green and burgundy spiral thingys are from  The Trinket Track

There is a mixture of Prima flowers and some others... I can't remember!
There is a little birdie hiding in here too... a change from butterflies!

I have torn two strips of patterned paper  and inked and put down both sides for a bit of border.
I have journaled on the back of this as I realised that I hadn't left room for this!!

Scrap Around the World May

I am only going to get this in, in the nick of time!
I really loved this challenge at Scrap around the world
It is a mood board with a sketch and the colours are beautiful!

Looking at this vintage and rustic came to mind and I thought it would be ideal for a photo of my Grand Daughter Gemma dressed up in vintage clothes. Her school, Waikerie Primary is 100 years old and part of the celebrations, was a excursion to the Loxton Historical Village.

I changed it to Sepia and used a Kaisercraft base coat patterned paper .

I love these Prima butterflies and the flower is from the Trinket Trak

And a bit of washi tape!

I thought these pewter photo corners belonged here!
I have inked the doily turquoise and then pinecone as it was still too white.

Finished off with some cotton lace and brown velvety lace stuff !

I really enjoyed this challenge and are really looking forward to next months!

Life Paper Scrapbook May sketch

Sketch #4 at Life Paper Scrapbook and once again I think I got off track! I begin with the sketch in my head and then I get carried away!
The sketch

my version

Slightly carried away....

I just love butterflies grouped together!

Now this girl is very original and has plenty of style!

There is definitely no lack of butterflies on this layout...... But when I look at them with their wings spread out , it reminds me of Gemma ... so young and free and innocent!!

About a Girl mid Month challenge - My DT reveal

" Bursting at the Seams" using a sunburst... fantastic challenge at About the Girls

I had just been looking at photos from a few years back when I was about to do this challenge and I could not get the Australia day pics out of my head and then the sunburst and the Australian flag and ...... well it had to be done !! LOL

This page is rather bold with the red, blue and white..... but it definitely (well to me ) represents Australia Day. All that beautiful sunshine and so many people on the oval, so many food stalls from different nationalities, rides for the kids and music for the children early in the evening and then a band playing those classic songs to dance to ... if you want to ..... mainly still the children! and then the fireworks, which are always spectacular. So here is my layout

This is my Daughter and Grand Daughter. Every year Jodie gets the wash off tattoos for the whole family and the kids dress in Aussie colours..... they all look so gorgeous!

I wanted to put the Southern Cross on the page, but I soon discovered that 7 pointed stars are too hard to draw so I googled a image, printed it and cut the stars out... easy peasy!

So for all you Aussies out there.... "Aussie  Aussie  Aussie  oi  oi  oi "

I will definitely be using this sunburst idea again ..... more in the way the other DT girls have done....darn that flag...it had to be done!!

Scrap your story- May sketch challenge

I liked this sketch over at Scrap your story as I had 3 photos in sequence telling a little story, so this was perfect!
I got these photos off my son's camera after he told me this story and said I should scrap it. I thought this was amazing....he actually must be paying some attention when I show him layouts of Glacia that I have done.  LOL!!
Okay layout....

Glacia must have been way overtired and fell asleep on the couch whilst eating a piece of cake and Lilo... a Rottweiler...so big and a big baby.....waited till she was completely out to it and very gently got that last bit of cake out of her hand and ate it! She didn't even wake up!

I made a washi tape banner and used a cherry flair button from A Piece of Cake Designs

The little black squares come from the Marta Stewart punch and well.... meant to resemble breadcrumbs LOL!!

The red wooden doily is from the Trinket Track, which I have snapped in half (idea I got from somebody...but now I can't remember who!)

Reminding you all that the new challenge at About A Girl will be posted on the 15th....lots of inspiration for you to check out and a great challenge!

Scrapfriends May challenge

It being Mothers Day, I hope everyone had an awesome day!

I haven't entered any challenges for a few weeks, so I have finally found some time to do the sketch challenge at Scrapfriends I struggled with this big time and the results.... I am not sure about!
Here is the sketch

I really made hard work out of this!!

The Grandkids always want to go down to the river and feed the ducks.... so many photos of this event and here is another! It is so cute listening to them go quack, quack, quack..... something I told them to do to get the ducks to come closer! So I thought it appropriate to call this layout Quack.

A few close ups

Most of these goodies are from the Trinket track

I didn't know where to put my journaling. so I added this bit!

This is a journaling tag that my daughter made  a few years back!

And of course we need DUCKS
I had not intended to use the corrugated card.. it is hiding a big mistake LOL !!

I am off to pick up a pizza for tea (Mothers Day ...remember) = no cooking for me !!

Thanks for looking,
cheers Leanne xx

May 1st DT Reveal at About A Girl

Woo Hoo..the first full challenge at About A Girl

Since this IS our first challenge I would like to get to know the little ladies your life. So I would like for you to create a layout of your choosing introducing her or them to us. Please include her/their names somewhere on the page. It can be in your title or your journaling, or hidden journaling just tell us it’s there. That's the only criteria for this challenge, easy right?

So what are you waiting for.....get those layouts done!
My layout is about my Grand Daughters..they are so cute together.
Gemma had to wait a few years for "a girl cousin" so this relationship is very special.

Gemma was all dressed in her troll costume for her first end of year school play.
I think Glacia was a bit confused as Gemma was over excited, but when we got there she sat on my lap and sang along and swayed with the music...so gorgeous! And clapped like crazy!

I extended her tail

Some more close ups..this is so cute...

and my journaling

And I love this rubon

My two beautiful Grand Daughters
